Contestants in the Fifth Annual Kansas Cowboy Poetry Contest will compete in two categories: Serious and Humorous poetry. All works are original. Awards and winners’ performances at 9pm. This event takes place in conjunction with Symphony in the Flint Hills, celebrating its Tenth Anniversary.

Nicolas Lucas, head of The Nature Conservancy program in Patagonia, updated Kansas trustees on activities in Argentina. The Nature Conservancy of Kansas participated in the acquisition of Fortin Chacabuco, a ranch near Bariloche. Nicolas later presented at Symphony in the Flint Hills that day.

The Wabaunsee County Historical Society will host a panel discussion related to “In Focus: The Photography and Film of Otto Kratzer.” Dr. Virgil Dean will moderate with panelists Dr. Jim Hoy, Dr. Joyce Thierer, and Project Director, Greg Hoots. Topics include the evolution of Volland.
