Contestants in the Fifth Annual Kansas Cowboy Poetry Contest will compete in two categories: Serious and Humorous poetry. All works are original. Awards and winners’ performances at 9pm. This event takes place in conjunction with Symphony in the Flint Hills, celebrating its Tenth Anniversary.

Nicolas Lucas, head of The Nature Conservancy program in Patagonia, updated Kansas trustees on activities in Argentina. The Nature Conservancy of Kansas participated in the acquisition of Fortin Chacabuco, a ranch near Bariloche. Nicolas later presented at Symphony in the Flint Hills that day.

Michele Fricke, professor and program head of art history at KCAI, will give a talk that considers the notion of women’s work historically and in contemporary practice. The discussion will include conversation with artist Debra Smith and the role of fiber art in the current multi-media.
