MARCI PHOTO OP
by Tony Crawford, Poet-in-Residence, October 2017

Photo of Marci,
Volland Store volunteer,
taken unknowingly
sitting on front window seat,
texting messages, her back facing me
as I approached the building

just felt like a photo op

although we had met,
before leaving I learned of
13 year old Emmett,
Illinois Creek Road,
and future Store exhibit,
“Then and Now”

I indulged in
tales of being a poet,
yesterday’s ride on a four wheeler,

other, perhaps trivial, matters
important to me

Marci, and others, are why
I’m endeared to the Volland Store,
its people.
