Wendi Rogers has devoted much of her life to literature, formerly as librarian, editor, and critic. Wendi has also been a writer throughout the years. In 2024 Wendi, a native of Wabaunsee County who now lives in Auburn, KS, joined in Volland's Writing Wabaunsee County project, which saw county residents author original scripts that were performed at the Ruin.

Wendi continued writing plays after that experience and is ready to test them out. She needs help however, and that is where the script-in-hand readings come into play. Wendi has already rallied a group of actors from Writing Wabaunsee County to help get things going, but the audience will be encouraged to give a voice to their inner actor and join in! All lines will be printed out. (This could be considered a "backstage look" to see if you want to audition for Kansas Abridged as an actor!)

Chicken Tortilla Soup, catered from El Corral, is available by reservation ($10). Please bring a dessert to share (By the way, Wendi mentioned pie is referenced in one of her plays).
