The Fish Wizards Tour has become one of Volland's most anticipated events of the year!
A joint fundraiser for the Volland Foundation and the Native Stone Scenic Byway, the Fish Wizard Tour inspires all ages to appreciate more fully the native fish of clear Flint HiIls streams and their aquatic habits. Led by fish scientists from across the state and beyond, and sited at a private creek near Volland, the Fish Wizards Tour provides rare access.
With the addition of Fish-A-Palooza in 2025, nature, science, and art reach a broader community, with music and food adding to the fun!
As a sponsor of "FishWizWeekend," your support will share some of the treasured nature experience that makes the Fish Wizards Tour so memorable to the broader community at Fish-a-Palooza, through talks by scientists, conversations with artists, the enjoyment of music, and a delicious fish dinner.
Featured at this year's Fish-a-Palooza will be the celebrated underwater photographer Garold Sneegas, with his remarkable annotated exhibit Fishes of the Flint Hills, and Gary Staab, a paleosculptor who creates gigantic sculptures for museums across the nation. Gary recently finished a bronze herd of bison that was commissioned by the Smithsonian. It will be installed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 2026, after making stops at four museums between Colorado and the Capitol. Staab will bring "parts" (BIG parts) of some of his sculptures to Volland on May 30 and talk about his process.
