Eric Reynolds Book Talk & Signing
Saturday, April 13 | 2pm

Update:
The book signing was attended by a dozen or more people who had connections with the little town of Garrison or one of the other ten small towns who were flooded by the Tuttle Creek project. They traveled from as far away as Wichita and Great Bend to share and compare recollections and seek missing information. It was a reunion of sorts of people who didn’t previously know each other, but who shared a common memory and curiosity. It was a compelling, intimate, and sometimes emotional experience, and a rare opportunity to connect. Thank you, Eric, for setting the stage to make this happen.
What happens to the memory of a town when it is completely erased?
For author Eric T. Reynolds, who was born in the Flint Hills and now resides in Kansas City, Tuttle Creek Lake’s imposition on the the Blue River Valley is a point of interest. Working through science-fiction, Reynolds transports readers into the heart of a debate to save Garrison, KS from oblivion.
From
Booklist
– “This captivat ing narrative seamlessly blends [science fiction], historical fiction, and environmental issues. The story unfolds with a compelling hook, as Kansas University geography professor Katie Robbins, while visiting a cemetery, time-travels to 1937. This unexpected journey thrusts her into a local battle against a massive dam construction project, which promises to submerge the entire Blue River Valley. Reynolds impressively combines thorough research, a structured plot, and vivid characters, immersing readers in early twentieth-century Kansas.”
Join us on April 13th, at 2pm for a talk and book signing from Reynolds on his latest work. The author has penned over 20 books, often addressing themes through historical and science fiction. Reynolds will have copies of
The Lost Town of Garrison for purchase at Volland. Light refreshments served.
