Meet exhibiting artist Allison Cekala at Volland on Sunday, October 22nd at 2pm

Free Admission | Light refreshments

The Maine-based artist will be at Volland to share thoughts about her art, including the projects in Salt Works. Cekala’s mediums includes photography, film/video, painting, and installation, all deeply rooted in observation and the experience of time. She co-founded and organizes The Rockland Observationalists, a collective of artists in midcoast Maine devoted to making and exhibiting observational work together.

At Volland, Cekala’s Salt Series photographs and short-film, Fundir, highlight the banal beauty of piled road salt and its movement from the Atacama Desert of northern Chile to Boston, Massachusetts. Regular visitors to Volland might see the contrast with Volland’s last exhibit, Country | Citizens, showcasing Philip Heying’s photographs of the tallgrass prairie. Heying’s photographs show a landscape with minimal human interaction. Cekala’s work is a sharp contrast, documenting in an equally exhaustive way a landscape with maximal human interaction.

We hope to see you on October 22nd to share in Cekala’s moving work.
