Get ready for an unforgettable summer evening in the Flint Hills! On Saturday, July 12, 2025, Volland invites you to experience a one-of-a-kind celebration of heritage, artistry, and sound. From the equestrian elegance of Charro Jerry Diaz & Family to the borderland sounds of Sin Fronteras with Latin Grammy Award -winner Mireya Ramos, this event brings together world-class talent, vibrant culture, and the beauty of the horse. With food trucks, mariachi, art, and live performances that span generations and genres, it’s a night designed to stir the senses—and delight all ages.
What to Expect
The lively sounds of Kansas City's Mariachi Estrella will welcome arriving guests at 5pm, signaling the beginning of a festive evening! MHK Caravan Co., Flint Hills Pints, and food trucks will be ready with great food, cold sodas, beer, wine, and special cocktails, as well as homemade ice cream made in Alma, KS.
After an incredible 2023 performance,
Charro Jerry Diaz and Family return to Volland in 2025! Jerry, Staci, and Nicolas will bring to life the beauty and traditions of the Charro culture with extraordinary horsemanship and their magnificent Andalusian horses. Starting at 7pm, skill and history will fill the arena.
As a special addition in 2025, Sin Fronteras, a project of Ensemble Ibérica, will join the Diaz family and their horses at the arena to accompany selected acts of the Diaz show. Live music and horses have a long history, but this is a first at Volland. Following the horse show, Sin Fronteras will perform a concert at the Ruin, featuring Latin Grammy winner Mireya Ramos.
This will be an evening to enjoy for the whole family! Children under twelve are admitted free - so bring your kids and grandkids! Tickets are $50. Live in Wabaunsee County? Tickets are a discounted $25, courtesy of the Volland Foundation.
About the Performers
The Diaz Family isn't just a family of riders—they're living history, representing a proud lineage of expert horsemen and revered breeders.
Based in New Braunfels, TX, the Diaz Family share their riding skills internationally; and their expertise in breeding is well known and respected. Fourth-generation Mexican Charro Jerry Diaz will display the traditions of the Charro culture, and Staci Diaz, a third-generation rider, will present an Equine Liberty performance which reveals the deep connection and trust between horse and trainer. Staci and Jerry’s son Nicolas, a fifth-generation equestrian and performer, is an eight-time world champion, and has performed alongside his parents in the most prestigious horse shows across the US and Canada. Nicolas breeds Andalusian horses and has some of the best Andalusian bloodlines in the US and Spain. Well-known local horsemen and entertainers,
Dawn and Geff Dawson, will emcee the performance.
The Ruin lights up after the show—Sin Fronteras takes the stage with Grammy-winner Mireya Ramos on vocals and violin.

After the horse show ends, move your lawn chair to the Ruin for a special performance of Sin Fronteras—a musical journey along the Texas/Mexico border. Featuring Latin Grammy Award-winner Mireya Ramos (vocals and violin), Beau Bledsoe (guitar), Jeff Freling (bass), Trevor Turla (trombone), Marco Pascolini (pedal steel guitar), and John Currey (drums), this powerhouse ensemble brings borderland sounds to life with soul and grit.
A collaboration between Ensemble Ibérica and Slim Hanson and the Poor Choices (who wowed audiences at Volland in August 2024), Sin Fronteras -meaning "Without Borders" - has been featured on major stages, including Lincoln Center (David Geffen Hall) in New York City in January 2025.
We’re thrilled to welcome this vibrant project to Volland, a perfect musical complement to the performance by the Díaz Family.
“A Latin Grammy-winning mariachi vocalist teaming up with a country and western band? It sounds wild, right? But as Mireya Ramos and the Poor Choices prove in today’s mini-concert, the two genres share a lot in style, culture and sound.”
