Camels: From Kansas to India

January 29, 2017

Valeri Crenshaw

A woman is standing in front of a painting of a camel.

Did you know that camels originated in North America?

and migrated to India?

Hear Valeri Crenshaw, a Kansan who owns a camel or two in the Flint Hills, speak about her recent visit to the Pushkar Camel Fair in India where she discussed Kansas camels with world-renowned experts. Hear about emerging markets for camel milk and creating a demand for these lovely creatures.

Valeri will bring a few “camel” things that she found at the Camel Fair markets for show and tell. Photographs too.

If you’ve wondered about India – or if you’ve been there – you are invited to bring

your questions, experiences, and artifacts/photos to share.

Think of it as “India Day at The Volland Store,” a virtual get-away in January

 and a delightfully entertaining afternoon

 The perfect finale to
