Spring Volland Resident Autumn Phillips is offering a free writing workshop on her final Saturday in-residence.


Autumn, retired newspaper editor and writer, will teach you techniques to help you write about your life experiences.


Autumn believes writing is a way of living, allowing you to notice details and be more present.


You don’t have to be a writer to participate.


Please bring a pen and notebook or laptop. Volland will provide coffee.

ABOUT AUTUMN

Autumn Phillips is a writer, adventurer and change leader. She enjoys asking big questions and creating transformative social experiences. 


She recently retired from a 20-year career as a newspaper editor and retains the title of Editor at Large of The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina, and serves on the board of the newspaper’s parent company.


Her leadership was recognized with many national awards, including two projects that were Pulitzer Prize finalists. 


In early 2023, she began taking readers on international trips and creative retreats, teaching them how to write about their journeys as a way to deepen the experience. 


She was named NATJA Travel Journalist of the Year for stories on Lebanon, Sudan and Finland. 


She is a beekeeper, kayaker and native of Wyoming. She has an MFA in creative writing from Goddard College. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
