Your support in 2023 made possible compelling art exhibitions, appearances by internationally acclaimed performers, intimate poetry readings, and a New York Times best-selling author presentation. Your warm and enthusiastic acceptance of the programming at Volland validates the need for access to the arts for rural citizens, while the delight of urban dwellers experiencing the arts in the surrounds of Nature speaks to the unique value of Place. SPRING 2023 ART

Spring 2023 art exhibitions: in plain sight (three emerging photographers from Kansas: Doug Barrett, Laura Cobb, Dylan Connell); Women’s Work II: Liza McKinnon and Shin-hee Chin; Country|Citizens by Philip Heying

Guggenheim Fellow Philip Heying exhibited Country|Citizens at Volland, which then moved on to the Kansas City Public Library. We were honored to exhibit his extraordinary work.

SUMMER 2023 EVENTS, RESIDENCIES

Candice Millard discussed her latest book, River of the Gods, and teased us with her next project.  Millard engaged a large audience of admirers in a most delightful conversation.

Charro Jerry Diaz and Family performed to the amazement of a large crowd on July 8. The Diaz Family has performed across the country, and this is their second appearance at Volland.

2023 finished on a high note with 44 elementary students visiting the Volland gallery to see TWO PLA CES, the exhibit by Norman Akers and Isaiah Stewart.  It was the best of times!
