FEBRUARY – MARCH

Saturday, February 3 | Sarah Hearn: Microbial Multiverse Opening Reception 1-4pm | Artist remarks at 2pm. The exhibit continues through March 31.

 Saturday, February 10 | John Depew, 2022 Kansas State Mandolin Champion, Doors at 6pm. Concert at 7pm. Soup/dessert supper available $15. Concert $15. Tickets

Sunday, March 4 | The Adventures of Bottle Calf , Ann Vigola Anderson’s latest book, reading and signing with selected art by Illustrator Sara Long who will also be present.

Saturday, March 16 | Auditions for Writing Wabaunsee County. Information about how to sign up for an audition.

Saturday, March 23 | The Symphony of All Things, a “Lichen Walk,”  led by Sarah Hearn, artist of Microbial Multiverse, followed with a concert at 4pm by The Forcefields, music duo of Julia Othmer and James Lundie, with the beautiful song, “The Symphony of All Things” animated by Sarah Hearn. Don’t miss this.

APRIL – MAY

Saturday, April 6 | Art exhibition by Sean Nash, 2023 Charlotte Street Fellow. Opening Reception 1-4pm. Artist remarks at 2pm. The exhibit continues through May 26.

Saturday, April 13 | Eric T. Reynolds book signing, The Lost Town of Garrison, a time travel historical novel about the town flooded by Tuttle Creek Reservoir. Author will speak at 2pm.

Sunday, April 14 | Mark Feiden “Emil Redmon’s Cow” latest film & Community Potluck, a collaboration with the Wabaunsee County Historical Society. Potluck at 12:30pm, with film to follow at 2pm

May 7 | Volland Spring Residency begins

JUNE – JULY

Saturday & Sunday, June 1 & June 2 | Fifth Annual FishWizards Tour! a fundraiser for the Native Stone Scenic Byway & the Volland Foundation.

Saturday, June 1 | The Nature Conservancy’s Winning Photos of the Kansas Photo Contest opens.

Thursday, June 6 | Spring Volland Residency ends.

Saturday, June 15 | Reception honoring the winners of TNC Kansas Photo Contest. 1-4pm. Remarks by Jim Richardson, juror and National Geographic photographer, with the state director of TNC in Kansas and staff  at 2pm. The exhibit continues through 6/30.

Friday & Saturday, June 28 & 29 | Writing Wabaunsee County performances. Original play written and performed by residents of Wabaunsee County, produced and directed by Beth Wynstra and Mary Pinard, professors at Babson College.

Sunday, June 30 | Closing day of TNC Kansas Photo Contest Winners. 1-4pm.

Saturday, July 13 | Hair of the Dragon by Hong Chun Zhang. Imagine a 90ft dragon made of hay bales on the Volland meadow. New works on paper inside the gallery. Opening Reception 1-4pm. Artist remarks at 2pm. The exhibit continues through September 22.

Saturday, July 20 | Derrick Doty + Signal Ridge (Bluegrass/Folk) at the Ruin. Food by reservation. MHK Beverage Truck. Flint Hills Pints Ice Cream. Doors at 6pm; Derrick Doty at 7. Signal Ridge at 8. Tickets here.

AUGUST – SEPTEMBER

Hair of the Dragon continues inside and outside the gallery through September 22

Tuesday, August 6 | Volland Summer Residency ends

Saturday, August 24 | Slim Hanson and the Poor Choices (honky tonk and Western classics) at the Ruin.  Food trucks. Doors at 6pm; concert at 8. Tickets here.

Sunday, September 15 | Open Call for submissions for Wabaunsee County Wonders.  All kinds of creative works are invited. Bring your entries to the Volland gallery at 2pm. Open to the public for viewing.

Tuesday, September 17 | Fall Residency begins

Saturday, September 21 | Dragon Wind | Celebration of Chinese music, history, dance, cuisine 4- 7:30pm. Free admission to performances. Optional dinner by reservation from Bo Lings of Kansas City. Reservations

Sunday, September 29 | Introducing a gift of eight M.T. Liggett sculptures from the Kohler Foundation | 2pm

OCTOBER – DECEMBER

Saturday, October 5 | Wabaunsee County Wonders, exhibit curated by Erika Nelson. Opening reception honoring the exhibitors | 1-4pm. The exhibit runs through December 15.

Sunday, October 13 | Wabaunsee County Music & Jam | 2-5pm

Tuesday, October 15 | Volland Fall Residency ends

Sunday, October 26 | “It Started with a Horse,” screening of the documentary film of M. T. Liggett’s life and art by Joshua Dubois. Free popcorn, drinks by donation | free admission, reservations required here.

Friday – Sunday, November 29 – December 1 | Thanksgiving Weekend – The gallery will be open

Saturday, November 30 | Volland will be at “Shop Small” in Alma, at the American Legion, 10am-1pm.

Sunday, December 8 | JuBellation Bell Choir of St. John Lutheran Church, Alma, KS

Sunday, December 15 | Closing reception for Wabaunsee County Wonders
